Budgeting benchmarks for kitchen and bathroom remodels.
Warm tile floors are one of the most impactful upgrades in a bathroom remodel — and one of the simplest to add when the tile is already coming up. Parrish Construction Inc. is a NARI award-winning general contractor specializing in heated floor installation in Sacramento, CA and the greater Sacramento area — including Carmichael, Granite Bay, El Dorado Hills, Folsom, and Roseville. We install Schluter DITRA-HEAT electric radiant floor systems as part of our full-service bathroom remodel process — from subfloor prep and membrane layout through cable installation, thermostat wiring, and final tile — so every layer is coordinated and nothing gets missed.
We spec Schluter DITRA-HEAT for every heated floor project. Here's why it's the right choice for tile bathroom remodels:
Most heated floor systems require a separate uncoupling membrane to protect your tile from subfloor movement. DITRA-HEAT combines both into a single ¼" mat — fewer layers, less height added to your floor, faster installation.
The cables snap directly into the mat’s stud structure. Tile installation begins the same day after thin-set cures — no waiting for a leveling compound to set.
Cables can be routed around fixed elements like toilets and vanities, so you’re only heating the floor where people actually stand.
The DITRA-HEAT-E-WIFI thermostat lets you set a schedule from your phone — so the floor is warm when you wake up and off when you’re not home.

Heated floors aren't an afterthought — they're a decision that shapes rough-in, electrical planning, and floor height coordination. We include heated floor assessment as part of every bathroom remodel estimate.
What heated floors add to a bathroom remodel project: For a typical Sacramento master bathroom (50–80 sq ft of tile), heated floors add approximately $1,200–$2,000 to the overall project scope, inclusive of materials and labor. Electrical rough-in is coordinated separately with a licensed electrician and is project-dependent.

We install heated floors as part of bathroom remodel projects throughout the greater Sacramento area:
Carmichael — our home base — full project and heated floor services
Granite Bay — heated floors are a frequent addition to Granite Bay bathroom remodels given the neighborhood’s tile-forward aesthetic
Folsom — serving neighborhoods throughout the Folsom area
El Dorado Hills — full remodel scope including heated floors
Roseville — available as part of full bathroom remodel projects
We do not offer heated floor installation as a standalone service separate from a tile or bathroom remodel scope.
Not necessarily. A dedicated 20-amp circuit is required for the thermostat and heating cables, but whether that requires a panel upgrade depends on your existing panel capacity. We flag this during the estimate process so there are no surprises — and coordinate with a licensed electrician to confirm before any work begins.
No — the heating cables install beneath the tile, so the existing floor needs to be removed and reinstalled. This makes heated floors a natural fit during a full bathroom remodel, and an expensive standalone addition to an existing bathroom. If you're already planning a tile replacement, that's the time to add heated floors.
Schluter DITRA-HEAT heating cables carry a 10-year manufacturer warranty. With proper installation, the system is expected to last 20–25 years. The DITRA-HEAT membrane itself has no defined service life and is considered a permanent part of the tile assembly.
The electrical work — running the dedicated circuit and connecting the thermostat — requires a permit and must be performed by a licensed electrician. The tile and membrane work is covered under our general contractor license (CSLB #1115328). We coordinate all permitting as part of the project scope.

Yes — Schluter DITRA-HEAT cables can be routed around fixed elements like toilets and vanities, so you're only heating the floor where people actually stand. Custom zone layouts are standard on every project we install.
DITRA-HEAT combines uncoupling membrane and heating in a single ¼" mat — most competing systems require a separate uncoupling layer to protect tile from subfloor movement. That means fewer layers, less added floor height, and faster installation. The cables snap directly into the mat's stud structure, so there's no leveling compound required and tile installation can begin the same day.
