El Macero Estates Enhanced Bathroom Remodel

Davis, CA

Timeline

6 Weeks

Location

Davis, CA

Budget

$30,100.00

Overview

This project was completed in collaboration with Erika Ramos Interiors, a designer we’ve partnered with on past projects. Erika provided the design vision, while Parrish Construction Inc. handled all permitting and construction for this remodel in the El Macero Estates neighborhood of Davis, CA.

With a construction budget of $30,128.30 (materials and labor, design services excluded), this project serves as a strong example of our Enhanced Bathroom Remodel tier—ideal for homeowners looking to upgrade style, comfort, and flexibility without fully reconfiguring the room’s footprint.

The Vision

The homeowners envisioned a spa-like retreat that would transform their dated master bathroom into a modern sanctuary. Working with Erika Ramos Interiors, we developed a design that maximized the existing footprint while introducing luxury materials and thoughtful details throughout.

Key Features

  • Retained existing vanity cabinetry while upgrading to quartzite countertops
  • Expanded shower footprint for improved comfort and usability
  • Replaced built-in tub deck with a freestanding tub for a lighter, more open feel
  • Signature Hardware plumbing fixtures throughout for cohesive design
  • Porcelain tile selections from IRG Stone for durability and visual continuity
  • New TOTO toilet with bidet and seat warmer
  • Designer lighting, mirrors, mixed-metal hardware, and accessories
  • Custom frameless shower glass for a clean, modern finish

The Transformation

The Vanity and Makeup Counter

The existing layout generally worked well, so the focus was on refining and elevating the space rather than reinventing it. We retained the original vanity cabinetry, which had recently been painted and was still in great condition, and gave it new life with quartzite countertops fabricated and installed by Stone and Beyond. This approach allowed us to allocate budget toward higher-impact upgrades while preserving value.

The Bathing Area

One of the biggest changes came in the bathing area. The bathroom originally featured a built-in bathtub with a surrounding tub deck and a tight, adjoining corner shower. To improve both flow and comfort, we removed the tub deck entirely, enlarged the shower footprint from 32″ x 48″ to 48″ x 48″, and installed a freestanding tub. The new setup feels more open, intentional, and aligned with the overall design.

The Tile and Fixtures

For fixtures, we installed a cohesive Signature Hardware package, including the freestanding tub filler, shower fixtures, and new vanity faucets. All plumbing fixtures were sourced through Ferguson, ensuring quality and long-term reliability.

Tile selections played a major role in defining the space. The bathroom floors were finished with Pietra Di Ostuni Avorio porcelain tile, while the shower walls were clad in Velluto White Matte 12″ x 24″ tile—both sourced through IRG Stone. These materials brought a soft, refined palette to the room while maintaining durability and timeless appeal.

Additional upgrades included a new TOTO toilet installed in the adjacent water closet, complete with a bidet seat and seat warmer that we wired for during construction. To finish the space, we installed custom frameless shower glass, designer mirrors with side-mounted sconces, mixed-metal cabinet hardware, and coordinated accessories such as towel bars, robe hooks, and towel hooks.

The Result

Despite permitting requirements and a few product delivery delays, the project was completed in approximately six weeks from start to finish. The result is a thoughtfully updated bathroom that feels refined, comfortable, and well-balanced—proof that a strategic remodel doesn’t require a full layout overhaul to deliver meaningful impact.

This El Macero Estates project highlights the value of our Enhanced Bathroom Remodel tier: a smart, design-forward approach that elevates everyday living while remaining mindful of budget and long-term value.
